Quality Control

Seatrade offers a full QC department ensuring the highest level of safety and inspection for our scallop and fin fish products.  Our processing facilities are HACCP approved and are listed on the EU register of U.S. companies approved for export to the European Union.  In addition, we are proud to offer two Marine Steward Council (MSC) CoC certified facilities.

Seatrade is a participant in the USDC Seafood Inspection Program which is run by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the auspices of the United States Department of Commerce.

Maintaining the Cold Chain

Seatrade is proud to offer the use of Time Temperature Indicators (TTI) on our Scallops packed in Metal Gallons. These small devices, imported from Europe, are colored plastic test strips applied to each metal can. The strip has a visible green colored liquid inside, which over time will change color when the can has started to warm above 38°F. If the product is temperature-abused the green colored strip will gradually change to yellow then orange and then red.

There is a cost in implementing these devices but this is far outweighed by the added safety and confidence in the product. Our goal is to maintain the cold chain to our customers and provide the assurance of quality scallops.
